842 homes that will seem to be pretty good for a while but then the foundations will come crashing down and they'll end up second class shitty bungalows

842 homes on that site. Fucking outrageous over development.

However it will be all we will have to remember our club by soon enough

Fast links into central London, they say...
I thought the shit transport links from Upton Park were one of the main reasons we had to move to that sterile shithole in Stratford?

Re: Upton Gardens........
Anyone know anything about this ending up with Barret as I thought the club sold to Galliard? They also made a point about it not going to highest bidder but the one that had the best vision for the community.

Sven ... Like but think The Last Resort is more appropriate ....

Some rich man came and raped the land, nobody caught 'em,
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes and, Jesus, people bought 'em
And they called it paradise, the place to be,
They watched the hazy sun sinking in the sea

First step in the no-doubt intended 'gentrification' of the area.

Bet the developers will win ultimately and we will not recognize the area in 10 years once the prices have really gone up and the current inhabitants have been driven out.

"Images may include optional upgrades at an additional cost"

The Devil's in the detail. Those extras probably include things like balconies and windows.

Not much there in the way of gardens. They may as well call it Upton Beach View.

the irony is that the only thing that made it 'thriving' has now moved to another part of London that was already 'thriving'.

Re: Upton Gardens........
I fucking hate architecture like that. Pristine shiny blocks with absolutely no reference to the history or traditional style of the area. I mean I know there would have previously been a sports stadium there but how the fuck is that anything like in the right place compared to the surrounding area, or indeed anything over 50 years old in London?

Brutalism or bricks over that cladded shite any day.

They've got these sort of places in Cambridge. One allocated car parking space which means they don't expect you to have any visitors
